Embracing construction constraints with responsive innovation
When we focus on responding to a pain point, the whole building benefits.
Our products and systems are designed to support the kind of building that’s good for the planet, the budget and the occupant.
PAINPOINTS THAT CAUGHT OUR ATTENTION
Constraints: Sound transfer is a challenge that is exacerbated in mass timber construction, and incredibly difficult to fix post-construction. Achieving the acoustic performance the Building Code requires often means complex, multi-trade floor build-ups that slow the job down, especially once services, wet areas and fire-stopping all need to fit in the same space.
Response: Build Anatomy developed the SoundDown™ range of acoustic flooring systems for mass timber (and all other) construction that simplify installation while ensuring optimal acoustic performance and cost-effectiveness.
SoundDown™ Tranquillo
- Customisable height to meet required floor build-up
- Pre-assembled components to speed up on-site construction
- Simple to specify and install

SoundDown™ Legato
- Castellated air battens, allowing for services to run within floor cavity
- Pre-assembled, customisable height
- Simple to specify and install

Constraint: While there are numerous finished floor levels being specified in raised acoustic floors, designers have been left to formulate customised solutions to raise shower bases for each project. The result is awkward detailing, extra coordination on site and a compromise between good sound control and a clean leve-entry shower.
Response: Endurabase is a level-entry shower base and wet floor system designed to integrate with SoundDown Acoustic Flooring systems. Each base is custom-built in length, width and height to suit the floor build-up, and it works with heated flooring.
Endurabase™ Acoustic Shower and Wet Area Bases
- Level entry, no step-downs, allowing seamless transitions from living areas into tiled wet areas
- Keeps the acoustic floor consistent throughout the wet areas
- Custom-built, made to suit each project perfectly

MORE ABOUT ENDURABASE™ Acoustic
Constraint: Sound travels through floors, and in multi-level timber buildings, footsteps and voices from upstairs quickly become everyone's problem. Getting good acoustic performance usually means extra layers, extra trades and insulation that's unpleasant to handle.
Response: re-Silence is a high-performance acoustic flooring insulation, designed to reduce impact and airborne sound transmission. It's made from 90% post-consumer reclaimed polyester, material that would otherwise have gone to landfill. As a bonus, it's soft to handle and won't irritate skin.
re-Silence Acoustic Flooring Insulation
- Acoustic-performance flooring insulation, reducing impact and airborne sound transmission
- Fast, comfortable installation, doesn't require stapling or fixings
- Made from 90% reclaimed polyester - keeping material out of landfill

MORE ABOUT re-silence™ Acoustic
Constraint: While transporting and constructing with timber, moisture exposure can be unavoidable. Moisture in timber impacts its durability, structural performance and lifespan causing long term problems for buildings and their occupants.
Response: Build Anatomy has sourced a moisture monitoring system and range of sealants that can be used to mitigate the adverse effects of moisture in mass timber construction. These solutions allow stakeholders to detect, address and prevent potential moisture issues during construction and beyond.
Wiiste Moisture Monitoring
- Continuous monitoring of moisture, temperate and humidity of timber
- Access real-time information from any wi-fi capable device
- Low-cost subscription

Fortifier Mass Timber Sealants
- Hard-wearing and self-priming
- Easy and time-efficient application
- UV Stable, anti-microbial, adheres to timber so no fluffing or lifting

Innovation is the heartbeat of Build Anatomy, we are currently working on a number of responses to constraints we’ve identified. There’s certainly no shortage of pain points in the construction industry. If you’ve identified something that needs resolving, we’d love to hear from you.
